So, before migrating to Canvas v7, I was still on v6. It kept me from upgrading Laravel. But one day, a v6.0.56 appeared. All it did was update the dependencies so I could install it on Laravel 13.

I was so excited I got straight to work on my site. The one you’re on right now—if you’re not using an RSS reader, that is.

I was so excited that I forgot to back up the images that I’d uploaded. And of course, during that migration, I got all those images deleted. It’s a long story involving a trusty Bash script I wrote that puts the site into maintenance mode, uploads all changed files, removes deleted ones, runs all migrations, rebuilds the JavaScript, and then brings the site back up—a sort of Bash-CI/CD … and forgetting to fully test it or do dry runs.

So anyway, those images were no longer retrievable without a ton of work. So I just figured, I’ll delete the blogs.
